Karen Stokes Dance is an advocate for arts and dance education in K-12.  We believe that arts education is fundamental in guiding creativity and imagination, and that these skills are necessary for our future.

WHAT IS FRAMING DANCE?

Framing Dance is a special field trip experience into the world of contemporary dance, inclusive of in-school workshops and a 25 page curriculum packet for teachers. Teachers and principals contact Young Audiences to make reservations (link below - phone # 713.520.9267). School buses and student ticket cost provided at no cost to schools.  Limited space!

Framing Dance was created in 2007 by Karen Stokes at the request of the Hobby Center's Discovery Series.   In 2010, Framing Dance was accepted as a special program partner with Young Audiences of Houston.

SPECIAL REQUEST:

 

From 2010-2012, over 6000 students in the greater Houston region have attended the Framing Dance Discovery Series.  Over 85% of the students are from economically disadvantaged areas of the city. 

 

The special event is offered free of charge to schools & students but is not free of cost. Individual donations help us to continue to bring the world dance to students.  Please consider making a donation to KSD today.
